Celebrating the Chinese New Year
Time: 2025-01-28

Chinese New Year, or the Spring Festival, is the most important celebration in China, marking the beginning of the lunar year. It falls between January 21 and February 20, depending on the lunar calendar, and is a time filled with vibrant traditions and joyful reunions.

The festival spans 15 days, bringing families together to honor their ancestors, enjoy delicious foods, and celebrate new beginnings. Each year is associated with one of the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac, and this year we welcome the Year of the Snake .

A highlight of the festival is the reunion dinner on New Year's Eve, where loved ones gather to enjoy a feast. Traditional dishes like dumplings, fish, and sweet rice cakes symbolize wealth, prosperity, and good fortune in the year ahead.

Throughout the celebrations, the streets are alive with dragon dances, dazzling lantern displays, and the iconic fireworks that are believed to drive away evil spirits. The exchange of red envelopes filled with money is also a cherished custom, bringing blessings and luck to recipients.

Chinese New Year is not only a time for family and festivity but also a moment for reflection and renewal. It’s a celebration of hope, happiness, and the promise of a bright future.
